Running into a heatstroke

Running into a heatstroke. by temporallobe at Garmin Connect - Details

After a late night (we didn't leave Eric and Gabrielle's kitchen until 11pm), but a roomy sleep outside of the RV, we were invited for a breakfast of granola, yogurt, cereal, fresh fruit, coffee and homemade crêpes! Boy were we spoiled! Eric is a fantastic cook and little Blanche was up fro playing after covering herself in toast, melon and cereal. It was quite the sight, and it was worth the later start despite the sudden hot weather.

Eric, Gabrielle, Blanche and Joe made our morning and their generosity was really endearing, and touched all three of us. We all left with a warm and fuzzy feeling, and some very full bellies! Thank you, thank you, thank you Eric, Gabrielle, Blanche and Joe! For more adorable pictures of Blanche et famille check out their travel blog: blancheacadie.quebecblogue.com

Started the run about 1.5 hours later than usual, and with the suddenly sunny weather, it was quite hot when we commenced. We ran through some beautiful small towns like Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pérade and Batiscan which had many little fruit stands, ice cream parlours and agricultural greenery. It was very beautiful but HOT to run through. Whew! After a few hat changes, head-towel changes and headband changes, I was still soaked in sweat!

With the dry weather came the heavy flowing and floating cottonwood! Poor Mandy fought off some allergies but thankfully with her and Melissa safely tucked into the air conditioned car, I was the only one getting the cottony bits in my mouth and eyes! Still kept trucking along though and ran, ran, ran.Kept running until the high sun decided to kick mu butt a bit with some heat dizziness. It was unpleasant but we stopped, moved the RV and allowed me to rest and siesta for an hour before tackling more running.

On the second go I only got about 5km before the dizziness set in again. I know that a night of rest will do me good on that. Had a nice dinner, and am now going to tackle my stretch routine before heading to bed for a nice long sleep.
