Halifax Kicks Butt!!

Halifax Kicks Butt!! by temporallobe at Garmin Connect - Details

So the Mayor of Halifax was unable to join me today. He was busy doing mayor things. However after my first 5kl or so I was met by Joe Lively from the Brain Injury Association of Nova Scotia. Joe has been a huge part of getting awareness out there for us and for brain injury as well. I always like having company when I run. However Joe is much faster than me. He has finished a Marathon in under 4 hours. The best I have done is 4:20 I think.

We ran to the Halifax city hall. Where we were met by Lyle Hart who is a CBC TV Reporter/Camera man/Videographer/Driver/jack of all trades. He wanted to get some shots of Joe and I running at city hall. He was also chatting with Judy and Gerry, my parents, who where also there to meet us.

So we do some video shots and then get ready to head out. To our shock the Halifax Police Department showed up to escort. These two guys on the bikes were AWESOME!! (I am so sorry guys I forgot your names) I headed out to run about 10kl with the Police motorbike escort blocked traffic. It was so amazing. Stopping traffic letting me run through red lights, blocking intersections. Then we hit the highway. As I run along in the middle of the highway and not hugging the side to allow cars to pass. I own the road. It was totally surreal.

We come up to incoming intersection and there is traffic backed all the way up about 1/2 kl of traffic. There is an RCMP car blocking traffic. Melissa was behind me and I motioned for her to come up. She pulls up beside me and rolls the window down as I continue running "Are they doing this for us"?
Melissa with a huge smile says "yup"

For about 10kl on the highway I was followed by two Halifax Police and behind me was Melissa in the Run To Remember CRV (thank you Honda Canada) with an RCMP Squad car behind her. Totally amazing.

As we got to run stop the four police officers, Mellisa and I head to Starbucks. We had a coffee and I talked a little bit about my injury and brain injury and just chilled with some of Canada's finest. They made fun of the one officer from PEI.

I had a great time with the Officers and I thanked them for what they do and for taking the time to help us out with this important topic.

I then had a Foot Massage Appointment. I got a full hour massage from Tanisha and Sore Spots Massage. She donated an hour of massage for my tired legs. She beat me up in such an enjoyably painful away. Now I have had a few massages in my day. I like sports or deep tissue massage. Let me just say that Tanisha beat me up. She is one tough massager. Thanks Tanisha.

I got back to the hotel and I had a 15 minute hot tub, update my run data, and now I sleep!! Do it all again tomorrow.

  1. Hey David....thanks for the feedback on 'Sore Spots'....not Sour Spots (lol). I was sad that I couldn't meet you in person, but I am glad you enjoyed your massage therapy session with Tanisha!
