It started last night with arriving at my sister’s house in Toronto. We all got to shower, do laundry; I had a bath, and then sleep in a normal size bed.
I had an interview on the phone at 5:45 am with CBC Radio One Metro Morning News. Then we all crashed a little bit and forget to set the alarm to get up. So we woke up a little late at 8:00. Melissa got us in the car and to Tim Horton’s in record time.
We went to Nathans Phillips Square for to meet up with Deputy Mayor Doug Holyday and he presented a declaration of support for the Run to Remember.
Just before he did his presentation we had an impromptu interview with Sun Media.
BDO then presented a check for a donation for a dollar a kilometer across Ontario.
We Care made a donation and have been providing me with foot care along the way.
BIST (Brain Injury Society of Toronto) Showed up to run with me and help me spread the word. Smart Risk, Think First and the Canadian Ski Patrol who are all partners in our efforts to spread the awareness of prevention.
My sister Kathy brought a bunch of her staff from Cossette to support the run. Any my family came out too: Adam, Suzanne, Alex, Ethan, Harry and Nancy were all there to support me. Uncle Harry and Nancy drove out to offer their support.
Then I ran 1km from Nathan Phillips Square to Union Station through downtown Toronto. There were about 14 other people running with me from the Canadian Ski Patrol, Smart Risk, Cossette and my family. My niece rode her pink princess bike along with the Toronto Police who sent 5 officers on bikes to escort us through downtown.
Then lunch with the family.
Then interview with Alex Ballingall from Maclean’s Magazine with a photo-shoot.
Then a TV interview on Sun Media’s Right Now program with Anita, back home to have a quick meal and get ready for We Care to take care of my feet with some Foot Nurse care.
Then it will be off to bed to run tomorrow. What an amazing day. It was just awesome.
If I remember correctly, WeCare has been represented at the BIAC national conference (Brain Injury Association of Canada) for the past two or three years. Maybe more?
ReplyDeleteJust keep pushing westward, David - to the cool weather.

Yes WeCare has been a great part of the Brain Injury Associations for a while. They are fantastic and they really do care. A great help to keeping people of all needs in home and keeping people independent for as long as possible.
