First 10kl of the run. Running through Regina.

Lady stopped to make a donation.

Back to running.

Meeting Mayor Pat Fiacco

Barb Buttler and Larry Carlson from the Brain Injury Association of Canada.

We added Melissa into the mix. She looks soooooooo happy!!

Then the rain started

The wind and rain decided to kick my butt!!

Today was a special day. Not only for being able to meet Barb and Larry (I have met Barb before). Who are from the Brain Injury Association of Canada. A couple of great people working for the Brain Injury cause.

I also got to meet Mayor Pat Fiacco who was a great guy. He is also a runner and will be joining me for a run on Sunday!! I am very excited about this.

I am also taking a rest day tomorrow. I am going to sleep in and look forward to seeing Mandy as she  is flying in to fill in for Melissa while she heads home for Thanksgiving.

So I am finishing up for tonight and looking forward to tomorrow.

Running to Regina's Doorstep by temporallobe at Garmin Connect - Details

  • Weather: 14 C to start High of 23 (57.2 F to 73.4 F) Strong wind at my back
  • Distance for today: 41.26 km (25.63 mi)
  • Total Distance to Date: 5882.63 kl (3665.49 miles)
  • Song of the Day: The Joe Rogan Experience Podcast on I tunes. It was interesting.

Today was fast. Well it felt fast. It was flat with a strong tail wind. I was also in a really good mood.

I want to start my pics with this one.

Public Services are the foundation of our society.

Almost in Regina!!

If you look closely there is a wild animal that I can't remember the name right now.

I got some great news yesterday that Mandy is coming out while Melissa goes home to BC to be with her family for Thanksgiving (it's this Monday in Canada). I was not expecting this so I am super stoked.

I am also excited to meet the Mayor of Regina tomorrow and running through the city. The weather has been fantastic so far. It's been warm, strong winds going to the west. I am just racking away the distances.

So I am sitting in Boston Pizza and waiting for desert then back to the Motorhome in Wall Mart for the evening. Tomorrow is going to be a little busy.

  • Weather: 13 C to start High of 26 (55.4 F to 78.8 F)
  • Distance for today: 39.43 km (24.50 mi)
  • Total Distance to Date: 5841.37 kl (3639.86 miles)
  • Song of the Day: Go Ricky, Go Ricky, Go Ricky!!

Today was a great day for running. Nice and flat, no strong head wind to fight. We had a long drive in the morning from yesterday's campground. So the day started off a little later than usual.

I seemed to run out of energy at about the 30kl mark. The last 10kl was really hard. Some day's are just like that I am finding.

We have driven ahead to Regina and I currently parked in a parking lot near Costco. Melissa is off doing laundry. I thought I would upload some of the pictures from today and the last couple of days since I had very limited opportunity. So here is a bit of a slide show of the last couple of days.

Running on the Highway
Hidden Horse
Reporter stopped for interview me.

Long flat railway

Random wild animals (if you know what they are let us know)

Curios dogs

Chair on the Highway. I needed to rest.

Tomorrow and Friday are going to be busy. I get to head to another school and talk about protecting your head and then on Friday I meat the Mayor of Regina.

Grenfell, Summerberry and Wolseley Stopping Just before Sintaluta

Grenfell, Summerberry and Wolseley Stopping Just before Sintaluta by temporallobe at Garmin Connect - Details

  • Weather: 7 C to start High of 20 (44.6 F to 68 F) Same as yesterday. Good tale wind.
  • Distance for today: 41.75 km (25.94 mi)
  • Total Distance to Date: 5801.94 kl (3615.36 miles)
  • Song of the Day: I found more Ricky Gervais Podcast's!!!

Today was a pretty fast run. It helps when I have a strong tale wind. It's also very flat.

We are staying in a campground a little bit of a distance from run stop. There are not allot of campgrounds open this time of year as the camping season is coming to an end.

My internet connection is really, really slow. I will not be uploading pictures but I will do my best to remember to upload then when we have a stronger cell or internet connection.

I have almost run to Regina and I am looking forward to talking at a school and meeting the Mayor in the next couple of days.

One more province after this and I am in my home province of British Columbia.

Both Melissa and I have been feeling the lack of Internet or decent WiFi in the last couple of days.

There was a reporter from a local magazine that stopped today on the road. I don't know if it's just me or not, but there seem to be allot more "honks" and waves from people lately.

So I am now going to do the dishes, stretch and get into bed.

Past through Whitewood, Broadview and stopped just before Grenfell

Past through Whitewood, Broadview and stopped just before Grenfell by temporallobe at Garmin Connect - Details

  • Weather: 7 C to start High of 20 (44.6 F to 68 F)
  • Distance for today: 41.81 km (25.97 mi)
  • Total Distance to Date: 5760.19 kl (3589.42 miles)

Today was a great day for a run. I felt good and moved quick. New shoes, a good nights sleep and some food in my belly. I was off.

Just a long flat peace of road.

I was listening to the news online today and I came across this article on the Globe and Mail. It's all about a new concussion testing program. It's about getting a base line pre-season so that when they have a head hit there is some data to test against to see if there has been any trauma.

While I applaud this step and it shows there is a growing concern about concussion it still does not provide a true test of damage to the brain. However it is better than nothing. I am not going to debate the quality of the test, or that why are hits on kids playing hockey even allowed. I am just glad that concussions are starting to be understood as to what they are. A brain injury.

The rules around concussions are old, the science does not back these old standards up, and they usually require the person that has received the brain damage, sorry concussion, to advice weather or not they are hurt.

Let's play that part out. You are a 15 year old hockey player. You coach has you out on the ice and you take a blow to the head. Your dizzy, a little "punch drunk", and then everyone is looking at you. During the ringing in your ears someone asks you "you good"?

"yeah"

"Get your ass up then"

I am glad this kind of testing of concussions is gone. I am glad there is a movement to start to test brain injuries. It's funny because the people that usually want you back in "game mode" are not the ones playing the game.

I also understand that Crosby is still out. I have to give this credit. There must be allot of pressure to get him on the ice. Not only his own as a premier athlete, but also those that make money off the fact that he is who he is. So my hat's off to him for realizing that his hockey carrier does not last forever and that he will need a brain when he is done.

Blasting through Wapella and Whitewood

Blasting through Wapella and Whitewood by temporallobe at Garmin Connect - Details

  • Weather: 10 C to start High of 19 (50 F to 66.2 F) Windy but behind me.
  • Distance for today: 41.16 km (25.58 mi)
  • Total Distance to Date: 5718.38 kl (3563.45 miles)

Today was fast. I had a very strong tail wind. I ran a half marathon in just over 2 hours. Took a break, stretched and headed back out. It was not until the last 5kl that my ankles started to bug me. I take this as a good sign that the new shoes are making a difference. Usually my ankles hurt about 10kl into the run.

We are parked in a campground in Whitewood Saskatchewan. I have very slow cell connection. No such as thing as 3G out here. It's not even a whole G.

Highway Chair. If you need a seat.
I have run straight into farm country, that is a foreshore

Some four legged friends.
I don't know what the four legged friends are I think there wild. However Melissa, while she can't name them, says they must be domesticated. So if you know what they are. Let us know.

Yup were are not in the city anymore.

Just some long flat running.

The new shoes have made such a difference. One pair of shoes will last me about 15 days with the amount of distance I do in a day. So it has been a great help having the new shoes.

We are parked in a little campground in Whitewood Saskatchewan for the night. I finished a little early today with the wind behind me. So I was able to take some extra time to upload the pics.

Cheers

I made it to Saskatchewan

Kirkella to Fleming through Moosomin by temporallobe at Garmin Connect - Details

  • Weather: 12 C to start High of 23 (53.6 F to 73.4 F) Windy but behind me.
  • Distance for today: 39.52 km (24.56 mi)
  • Total Distance to Date: 5677.22 kl (3537.87 miles)

Today I crossed into Saskatchewan.

So I just Alberta next then I am in my home province of British Columbia.

I don't have the best internet connection so I am just uploading the one picture. Today was a great day for running. The wind was there but not to strong. We had a couple little hiccups on the way to run start and things were just "off" today.

Have you ever had one of those days when things just seem a little more complicated and take an extra effort? That was kind of what today felt like.

It was a little bit of a later start and a little bit longer of a day. I am just finishing this blog upload for the day at 8:31 pm and need to stretch my left leg. It kind of seized and hurt in a new way today.

While we are parked in a hotel parking lot and hooked up to the plugs used to keep cars from freezing in the winter (we asked permission) I do have power yet a very slow internet connection. So I am going to watch a Bourne Movie while I do my stretches.
